List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they're listening to.
Okay, so this is my list of current favorites.
1. Breathe Me by Sia.
This is a great song, very introspective, and it comes from a slightly damaged, searching point of view.
2.Amie by Damien Rice.
Like the above song, it's a bit of a downer. But I love his voice and the mournful tone of it.
3. Passenger Seat by Death Cab for Cutie.
It's actually a kind of happy romantic song. To me, this is what love should be like. Simple, sweet, and calming. It's quiet, and the tone of it just chills me out.
4. No Bravery by James Blunt.
This song makes me want to cry. It's based upon his experiences while in the British Army and stationed in Kosovo. It's simple and haunting, sort of like a photograph, showing what blind hatred and standing by can do.
5. Love Song as performed by Jackoff Jill.
Okay, so the lyrics are the same to this version as the original by the cure, which is excellent. What is so wonderful about this cover, though, is that it is more hard rock. And the vocals on this lends an angry, bitter edge to the song, giving it a new dimension not present in the orginal.
6. Crazy by Gnarls Barkley
This song has a catchy beat, taking elements from hip-hop, electronic, and rock. The video is great and the lyrics reflect the human notion that we're in control of our lives and sanity, even though we aren't. And how nice it can be when we lose that control.
7. Hurt by NIN feat. David Bowie.
This is a great song in general, and I adore the cover by Johnny Cash. However, in this live track, Reznor and Bowie's voice reflect a raw, hopeless, and sad quality. It is their performance that add it to my list.
So I tag the following, as I suspect their answers shall be quite interesting:
lotus0girl,
spacewhore,
oregonsucks,
oddsketcher,
macaroni_thief,
cinderella81, and
dreamerchaos.
