Jan. 3rd, 2007 11:48 amSo, life has been far from thrilling lately, but its not sucky.
For Christmas, I went home, took BART to richmond, Amtrak to Davis, then went the rest of way with my Aunt Karen. Was nice being home, and my asshole Uncle actually tried being nice. Casey grew out of his "stupid family" stage and was pretty good.
I got home friday, saw corinna on saturday, and that was nice. I didn't get a chance to see Shasta, regretably. Was then stuck with 14 family members for two days. Joey's adorableness was worth it. She two and obsessed with Dora the Explorer. She got a huge Dora blanket, and her dad held it up over his body (he was sitting down), and Joey ran at him, smacking him in the stomach, then bit Dora, thus biting Adam's chest.
Got some nice earrings, gift cards and movies. All in all, a nice take.
Left on the 26th, and it was snowing on the way down. My mom, dad and fred drove. I was the navigator while mom and fred slept. Traffic over the bridge was a bitch.
My parents stayed for a day. Kostya, Fred, and my Dad tried to be sneaky. I mentioned something about how Kostya bought "Talledega Nights, The Legend of Ricky Bobby," so I needed to take it off of my netflix list, and then I'd put "Jackass 2" on the top of the list. Then my brother or dad said "YOu don't need to do that," so I asked "Did someone buy it?" at which point, they all began saying "why do you keep talking about 'Jackass?'"
Kostya also bought "mission impossible 3" (fucking tom cruise), and Fred said "We don't want to watch it," so Kosya said, with great emphasis, "let's watch mission impossible." And I told them that I wouldn't watch it, but I didn't leave the room. All of my CIA training came in handy so I could crack their code. And to my great surprise, the movie that started was "Jackass 2."
At this point, Kostya Fred grinned a bit, partly over the fact that they'd kept up the story after I'd figured it out. But my dad was laughing! He thought it was hilarious!
Anyways, fast forward to new years. Kostya wanted to go to a work party in Bayview. Bayview is in the city. Bayview is where the gangs in SF are. Bayview is where the majority of our homocides occur. I said "no," partly because I didn't feel like dealing with crowds, and partly because I still felt crappy (I'd had a bitch of a headache all of saturday). So I didn't go, but he did. L and I just hung out, drinking cranberry vodka and coke and watching Rammstein videos and vampire movies. The next day when I woke up at noon, I saw that Kostya was still missing. I figured that he crashed at Zheyna's (Zheyna is his friend who just moved here from Mississippi and lives downtown). I finally called him and it turned out that Kostya did indeed stay at Zheyna's, but he also stopped there before the party. They ended up getting so drunk that they didn't even go to the party. Oy.
Anyways, L, Stephanie (a friend of L's who is easily amused; she's like dani, only with a bigger rack) and I went to the movies to see "Pan's Labyrinth," which was fucking awesome. I highly, highly recommend it. It's all in spanish, but the visuals are fucking incredible.
After the movie and some light shopping (I bought a pair of workpants, some burt's beeswax lip balm, a Charley Patton CD, and a Dave Burbeck Quartet CD), we went home. Upon our arrival at home, we noticed that there was a fire truck parked at the corner, blocking the side street, and a cop care blocking another. This was the same situation we'd noticed when leaving the apartment five hours earlier. So we asked and were told 'it was a police matter, nothing to worry about." Then we noticed a new van, so we ran upstairs and turned on the news.
Some felon parole violator was holed up not even two blocks away. We even heard what sounded like gunshots, but were aparrently the sound of tear gas cans going off. After ten hours, they got into the house only to find the guy had escaped. Oye.
Story Here
Other than this, life has been boring. We're looking for an apartment in the same area, but we'll just have to see what happens. Have a good rest-of-the-week.
