San Francisco, baby!
Apr. 5th, 2005 07:34 pmOkay, yeah, last thursday I went down to San Francisco, saw L. I miss L. I mean, Corinna and everyone always tell me to be strong and stuff, but it seems to work better when I hear it from L. Probably because she is bold. I don't know, after she tells me to stop being a nerdy weenie, I feel like I can do whatever I need to. So yeah, L ROCKS!
So, yeah, I went down on Thursday. L always asks when I'm going to visit, but its hard for me to find time. My mom usually demands I go home during break. So I got there on thursday after a boring, 8 hour ride on the bus. Nothing too special, really. I got there and took a cab, and of course my cabbie didn't know where the hell I was going. Bastard. So yeah, $37 later, I arrived at L's. We ate an oven pizza and I showered while she dashed off to get cash for the club.
Two of her friends, Jana and Sue (I believe) showed up and we stopped at some pizza place before hitting the Cat Club at 7th and Folsom. Needless to say, I was uncomfortable. Sadly, there was this guy who was more uncomfortable than me. ME! But I started dancing. I had four drinks, so it made me not so uncomfortable, which was nice. And we grooved and had a good ol' time.
On friday we got up and went shopping for dinner. I watched "Freaks," a movie from the 30's that kicked serious ass. L wanted to make a special dinner for me, ravioli (soooo goood!), bread, and zuchinni. Then we watched... something. It'll come to me... Oh yeah, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." Best part of that movie: Justin Thoreaux's body.... oohh lord. Second best part: Crispin Glover. He was cool and weird. Then I watched "The Punisher," which had satisfying amounts of blood and violence. And splosions.
On Saturday we browed around Haight Ashbury, which hurt my soul when I saw the freaking GAP there! Fucking gap. But I bought a fishnet shirt and pantyhose, and there was a really cool drag queen store that I adored. Then L started getting sick, her illness apparently shared by her roommate Sabrina. So we stayed in and watched "A Nightmare Before Christmas," which I'd never seen before and enjoyed immensely. I think she felt bad about not doing anything with me, but I was glad just to talk and hang with her. I also did my own tarot reading, which was insightful. Proved that I am indeed a coward. Need to be bolder, braver. That was the jist of my reading. Anywhoo, I watched "Strangeland," this bizarro movie by Dee Schnieder. Kinda cool, but the script needed work.
The next day, we got to the bus station without incident, but as it turns out, my bus was changed to leave after three, not after one. Fuck. So yeah, waited in there a long time and ended up talking to this old anti-communist who once painted Joe Dimaggio's house.
Finally I got on the bus, and the trip was okay. There were a lot of people so I was sitting next to this old woman named Lee. She was pretty cool, and we talked about movies. She also talked about finding your passion in life, encouraging me to do so. She also gave me two dollars and was greatly pleased that I was a young person but polite and with great knowledge of older films. She says that most people tend to ignore the elderly, like the song "Mr. Cellophane" from Chicago.
I tried taking a nap after one of our breaks, but this drunk guy kept yelling at the driver "I have to Pee!" Charming. But finally I got back. It was an interesting weekend. Now I just have to catch up on my homework.
In other news, yeah, I decided I hate dating. It’s too nerve-wracking for me. I called K over break, and then saw him a couple of weeks ago, but he hasn't called me. I considered calling him today, but as I was about to, I just started freaking out that he wouldn't want to hear from me. Yes, I suck. It’s completely pathetic and insane for me to get so nervous, we're clearly just friends. But my affection for him makes it so much harder for me to deal with.
I'm also nervous about decreasing my dosage of Paxil, worried. But I'll get through it. I'm sure I'll be fine.
