So there hasn't been too much going on lately.  My Mom came to visit in July and we had a good time.  We ended up seeing a couple of movies, so ya know, good times.

I has been cold as fuck in San Francisco, which I love.  Seriously, late fall temperatures in summer give me THE JOY.  Last week it hit almost 80 for two days, and it was horrible.  Luckily, the weather again went cold.  So Yay.  Of course, during Labor Day weekend I'll be in Sacramento for my friend's birthday.  So of course it will be deathly hot, which will kill me.  But that's what you do for friends.

Oh, and my muse has completely buggered off.

Though of course, the most notable occurrence over the past few months was the overturning of Prop 8.  I did try to read through all 136 pages, but damn, long ass ruling.  Of course, the battle is far from over, and there will be appeals until this case reaches the Supreme Court,

Prop 8 was overturned,and here is an interesting quote from Judge Walker's ruling: "Proposition 8 is unconstitutional because it denies Plaintiffs a fundamental right without a legitimate (much less compelling) reason....That the majority of California voters supported Proposition 8 is irrelevant, as 'fundamental rights may not ...be submitted to [a] vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections.'"

Opponents of the ruling are calling Walker's ruling unsurprising, claiming he handled the trial in a biased fashion. I may not be a lawyer, but fun fact: if you're dealing with a court you need legal reasons, and more than two witnesses. Prop 8 proponents offered 2 witnesses, while the plaintiffs offered 17.  It says a lot about the case that the proponents were unable to find more than 2 witness who could justify Prop 8.  As I recall, one of their early arguments was that Prop 8 was passed by people who didn't have a bias against gays, but just didn't feel same sex couples met the traditional definition of marriage.  While it may be true that many people didn't feel they were being biased, the fact is, denying it based on.

In addition to all of this, more states allow first cousins to marry than same sex couples, then the door will be opened to allow polygamy.  You know what, at this stage, I don't care.  I've decided polygamy is fine, as long as it meets the standards set in the Koran.  Basically, you can have as many spouses (some countries limit it to a certain number) as long as you can support each wife both physically and financially.  One of my coworkers is married to a really sweet Yemeni guy, from a devote and kind Muslim family.  As his family practices it (except the one married to my coworker, because it's in their marriage contract that if he takes another wife, she gets the kids and marriage is over), polygamy seems fine to me.

When her husband's uncle visited, he decided to buy jewelery for his wives.  The spent forever trying to make sure that each wife got as close to the same identical item as possible.  The way my coworker's husband practices it, if a man has more than one wife, it is his duty to ensure that each wife feels as loved as the others, and each wife should be treated equally among the other.  Because in Islam, as explained to me by my coworker, it isn't that a woman should be kept in the house; its that a woman shouldn't have to work.  Of course, like many religions, this notion has been corrupted by sexists who feel women are of lesser worth.

By knowing my coworker, I've been exposed to the more mainstream and common aspects of Islam, which tend to be moderate.  The fact is, we only hear about other religions when there is something strange.  The Christians we hear about on the news aren't the Christians who follow the idea of loving each other and not judging.  We instead hear about the cheaters, the liars, the extremists.  And its the same thing as Islam.

In random news, this is a link showing that super hot Rolling Stone "True Blood" cover, but without Sookie.  I support this image more, as well as photoshop because there are not enough hot gay vampires on tv.

Also, these tee shirt slogans give me the fucking joy. THE JOY.  Because while I don't agree with people who think that taxes only ruin the world and that anything that supports the poor is commie socialism, they have the right to their own opinion.  But rampent ingnorance really pisses me off.

So, I started reading Joe Flanigan's twitter account (as well as David Hewlett's; his parenting stories are hilarious and he's just awesome), and Joe answered some fan questions. The best one was "Q: if you could rewrite the ending to SGA, how would you send Shepard off into the sunset?"

His answer: "A: Ronin and I steal a puddle jumper, pack it with beer, duct tape McKay in the back (tech support) and set up a new series: WraithHunter.  Or should I say "Wraith-Busters""

I am amused that he misspelled Ronon's name. *snickers*

Joe and David, their tweets are what I would except from John and Rodney if they were actors.  Just awesome.

Also, I'm in love with this series on youtube: Sassy Gay Friend.  It takes a look at what would have happened if Ophelia, Juliet and Desdemona had had a sassy gay friend.  Hilarious.

It's truly sad how the extreme becomes the definition of each side, isn't it?

Love the video! Thank you for sharing!

I know! Its irritating on so many levels! Islamic terrorists and men who beat women to death are seen as the standard for Muslims, and Glen Beck is the ultimate patriotic christian *shudders*

The best part of that is video is having someone else watch the series, and then when they're doing something, go "What, what, what are you doing? What are you doing?" It causes spontaneous giggles.

I've missed you ::glomps::

I am glad things are going well just busy. I hope you will have more time to pop in soon.

I am glad Prop 8 got overturned, I am not even sure how they got it to pass. Probably didn't present all the information on the ballot.

I like the rolling stones cover :) They don't need Sookie

Yay for actors tweets :) there are some amusing tweets by some actors

Thanks for sharing the video it is fun. :)

I think with Prop 8, they spread a lot of lies, like how gay marriage would be advocated in schools, thus making your children gay. I think it was Glenn Beck reasoning there.

Also, your icon so cute. It should totally read: Mike Celluci is tired of your crap. Cuz he looks ready to smack Henry. Or spank him.

The best part about David Hewletts are how he talks about his son and the random ass crap he does. Such fun.

*hugs and tickles*

I think you are right, they always like to spread lies when they pass legislation.

Thanks, you can snag it if you want, as I made it :) I am sure Mike wants to do more than spank Henry bwhaha.

I think he is on my twitter feed, he posts some fun stuff.

::hugs and tickles back::

Whaddup, girlfriend?

Sassy Gay fRiend is hilarious :D

Polygamy is fine with me, as long as all the individuals involved are consenting adults.

Let's hope Prop Hate stays in its coffin.

"Ronin", indeed. For he's an Irish lad, as sure as day follows night.
